Update - January 2010
Good progress is being made with plans for our new Learning Centre. The site survey and cost analysis required the planned location to be revised and the centre will now be positioned just to the rear of our existing rooms 17 and 18 and adjacent to our PE/ICT Resource Centre (rooms 53-56).
Planning permission will hopefully be granted by April, with contracts then being agreed in May. All being well, excavation of the soil that will form the walls will begin in May and construction itself will start at the end of August.
The construction process is scheduled to last 24 weeks, so the building should be completed by February 2011. Fixtures, fittings and the installation of ICT equipment will take some weeks, but hopefully we shall see the building in action in the summer of 2011.

We have been allocated funding to provide a new Creative Learning Centre at the college. This is planned to be a single storey building to provide specialist accommodation for our growing range of vocational courses. The building will include a range of ICT facilities, including state of the art 3D visualisation and projection technology.
The building is designed to have a minimal carbon footprint. External walls are constructed from rammed earth with timber cladding and sheep’s wool insulation. This combined with a green roof and solar water heating system make the building highly energy efficient.
